13 Reasons Why

I just got through binge watching the first two seasons of “13 Reasons Why”.  I’m not sure what compelled me to watch it, but I felt it was important.  I don’t have kids in school anymore, and while I didn’t worry about whether or not I was coming home when I was in high school, many of the topics addressed in this show were real issues that my generation dealt with as well.

  • Bullying
  • Athletic entitlement
  • School administration ignoring kids in crisis
  • Sexual assault
  • Drug use
  • Girls’ self esteem isssues
  • Suicide and suicidal thoughts
  • Different rules for kids of privilege
  • School violence

There were others, but I think that pretty well sums things up.

I’ll touch on each of these topics in future posts.
